BACKGROUND
LAB Design Consulting had the honor of participating in and leading a unique design project for Versuni / Philips Domestic Appliances. The mission, called Home Safety, is a pioneering development program aimed at reinventing the world of home security systems. As a new initiative, it brought both great challenges and a sense of excitement to the entire team.

STRATEGY
We began with a market overview and user journey, carefully positioning each element of the project. We addressed users' needs—including privacy requirements, usability touchpoints, and appearance trends—to ensure the products seamlessly integrate into the home environment and everyday life. It’s not just about a single product; it’s about the synergy within the product family. HomeSafety is a system defined by its connected devices and the shared DNA present in each unit.
INNOVATION
Reinventing means starting from scratch—pushing the boundaries of technology to create something that doesn’t yet exist. This is exactly what we achieved with the new-in-class indoor home camera. To differentiate the product from competitors, we envisioned something that would seamlessly blend into the home environment—like a piece of art or a speaker—something both friendly and iconic. To bring this vision to life, we worked closely with an exceptional technical development team, challenging ourselves in mechanical design, including moving mechanisms and breakthrough production solutions for part construction.
VBL
As a product family, each member needed to be unified through a consistent Visual Brand Language. Every product carries elements of the shared DNA, making them both user-friendly and approachable.
ICON
As a result of a long development journey together with the Versuni Domestic Appliances project team, we achieved our goals of creating an icon that appears to be the most unique home safety product family on the market, with its appearance, usability, and breakthrough technology.
DESIGN PROCESS
